Cowrie Creek is situated in a quiet elevated position approximately five minutes walk from Ambleside village centre and two minutes walk from the beautiful Waterfalls. The accommodation comprises one double en-suite room and one twin room with private bathroom facilities.

Colour TV, complimentary tea/coffee and hairdryer are provided in each room.

Full English breakfast is served in delightful guests' lounge/dining room. Special diets catered for.

Ideal base for walkers and sightseers alike. Parking available.

Cowrie Creek is a no smoking establishment.

We are open from mid May to mid October.

BY ROAD (FROM SOUTH) - leave M6 at junction 36 & follow A591 to Ambleside. Follow one-way system into town centre and turn left at Barclays Bank, left again behind bank and follow signs for Waterfalls. Stockghyll Brow is the first turning on the right. Cowrie Creek is situated halfway along.

BY ROAD (FROM NORTH) - leave M6 at junction 39 and follow A66 towards Keswick. Turn left at roundabout signposted Windermere and follow signs to Ambleside along Ullswater and the Kirkstone Pass. At main road in Ambleside turn left. Follow one-way system and at Barclays Bank turn left and left again behind the bank and follow the signs for the Waterfalls. Stockghyll Brow is the first turning on the right. Cowrie Creek is situated halfway along.

BY TRAIN - to Windermere. Then take bus or taxi to Ambleside. There is a direct train connection from Manchester Airport. Click here to get your tickets online.

WALKING - Ambleside is in the heart of the Lake District, ideal for walkers and sightseers alike. Recommended walks from Cowrie Creek include: Wansfell to Troutbeck and back via Jenkins Crag and Strawberry Woods; The Fairfield Horseshoe; Loughrigg Fell; Rydal Water; Grasmere via Rydal Water and Dove Cottage. The Tourist Information Centre in Ambleside organises frequent voluntary ranger walks.

WATERSPORTS - Low Wood Watersports Centre.

ANGLING - Trout fishing on Esthwaite Water, Hawkshead.
